The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R continued its strong run in the entry-level hatchback segment during May 2026. The popular hatchback recorded sales of 18,076 units, registering an impressive 30 percent year-on-year growth compared to the same month last year. Its combination of affordability, fuel efficiency, and practicality helped maintain its popularity among Indian buyers.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift also remained one of the country's most preferred hatchbacks. The model sold 17,519 units in May 2026, posting a healthy 24 percent increase over its sales figures from May 2025. The strong demand further reinforced the Swift's position as one of India's best-selling passenger vehicles.

Among SUVs, the Mahindra Scorpio continued to attract buyers with its rugged appeal and strong road presence. Combined sales of the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N stood at 15,774 units during the month. The SUV recorded a 10 percent year-on-year growth and secured the ninth position among the country's top-selling vehicles.

Rounding off the top ten list was the Hyundai Creta, which remained a key player in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. Despite increasing competition from newer rivals, the SUV maintained steady demand.

The sales performance of these models highlights the continued dominance of hatchbacks and SUVs in the Indian automobile market. Strong growth figures for vehicles such as the Wagon R, Swift, and Scorpio indicate sustained consumer demand, while the Creta's consistent performance demonstrates its enduring popularity among SUV buyers.
