Tesla Supercharger Drive: Model Y Rollout Powers Massive Charging Network Expansion Across India
Tesla expands charging network in India as Model Y deliveries rise.
Tesla is aggressively expanding its charging infrastructure in India to align with customer lifestyles, starting with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Gurugram, as Model Y deliveries gain momentum.
On November 26, 2025, Tesla inaugurated its first integrated Tesla Center at Orchid Business Park in Gurugram, combining retail showrooms, service bays, delivery hubs, and V4 Superchargers under one roof. This follows experience centers in Mumbai (July) and Delhi Aerocity (August), with current operations including three superchargers in Delhi and Mumbai, plus 10 destination chargers at partner hotels. The Gurugram site will soon activate, bringing the total to four stations with 16 superchargers, as India GM Sharad Agarwal emphasized building networks near workplaces, eateries, and staycation spots for seamless EV adoption.
Model Y variants—Rear-Wheel Drive at ₹59.89 lakh (64 kWh battery, 500 km range) and Long Range RWD at ₹67.89 lakh (84.2 kWh, 661 km)—are imported from Shanghai, facing 70% duties that inflate prices above global markets. Tesla highlights cost savings: owners recover ~1/3 of the price in 4-5 years via lower fuel/maintenance. Sales data shows 118 registrations in 2025 (104 in Sep-Oct per FADA), underscoring early traction despite no local manufacturing plans yet.

Agarwal linked the push to India's pollution crisis in Delhi and Mumbai, noting Tesla's global impact: 8 million+ cars delivered, cutting 32 million tonnes of CO2. Future plans include rapid network growth, mobile services, and partnerships to make EVs "convenient for everyone," accelerating sustainable energy transition amid rising domestic competition.
No local assembly is confirmed, but direct-to-consumer sales have sparked enthusiasm. With superchargers adding 267 km range in 15 minutes, Tesla eyes nationwide coverage to boost EV shift, though infrastructure challenges persist.
