Tesla Model Y Long Range Now Runs 661 km in India—Price Unchanged

Tesla, the American electric vehicle giant, has enhanced its Model Y Long Range variant in India, offering an impressive range increase without altering its price tag. Launched in India in July 2025, the Tesla Model Y initially came in two variants: the Standard RWD and the Long Range RWD. The Long Range version, originally equipped with a 78.1 kWh battery pack and a WLTP-certified range of 622 km, has now been upgraded to deliver a remarkable 661 km on a single charge, thanks to a new 84.2 kWh battery pack.

This 39 km range improvement enhances the Model Y Long Range’s appeal for Indian buyers seeking extended travel capabilities. Despite the upgraded battery, the rear-axle-mounted electric motor remains unchanged, producing 299 hp and enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The Standard RWD variant continues to feature a 64 kWh battery pack with a WLTP-rated range of 500 km, with no changes to its specifications.

The Tesla Model Y retains its premium features, including seven exterior color options, two interior trims, a 15.4-inch front infotainment display, an 8-inch rear screen, power-adjustable front seats and steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, 19-inch crossflow wheels, a fixed glass roof, and a power rear liftgate. These features ensure a luxurious and tech-forward driving experience.

Notably, Tesla has kept pricing unchanged despite the battery upgrade. The Standard RWD variant remains priced at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the Long Range RWD variant continues at Rs 67.89 lakh. This move underscores Tesla’s commitment to delivering value to its Indian customers, making the Model Y Long Range an even more compelling option in the competitive electric vehicle market.
