Tata Punch EV Facelift Achieves 5-Star Rating In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

The 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, strengthening its position among the safer compact electric SUVs available in India. The electric SUV achieved a score of 31.09 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection. The safety rating applies across the entire variant lineup, meaning all versions of the Punch EV facelift receive the same certified protection standards.

In the adult occupant protection tests, the Punch EV recorded 15.28 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.80 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. The vehicle also successfully cleared the side pole impact test, which is a key part of the Bharat NCAP crash assessment. These results highlight the vehicle’s structural safety performance and Tata Motors’ continued focus on occupant protection.

For child occupant safety, the Punch EV scored a perfect 24 out of 24 in the child restraint system dynamic test and 12 out of 12 for child restraint system installation. It received 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment score, contributing to its overall child safety rating. The performance reflects the growing importance of family safety considerations in the compact SUV segment, particularly among buyers looking for electric vehicles.

The Punch EV facelift comes equipped with several standard safety features across all variants. These include electronic stability control, side head curtain airbags, pedestrian protection measures, seat belt reminders for all seating positions, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages on the rear outboard seats. By offering these features across the range, Tata Motors has ensured that safety equipment is not restricted only to higher-end variants.

This marks the second Bharat NCAP evaluation for the Tata Punch EV, following the pre-facelift model’s assessment in 2024. While the adult occupant protection score has seen a slight change from 31.46 to 31.09, the child occupant protection score remains unchanged at 45 out of 49. The latest rating comes as safety ratings continue to play an important role in vehicle purchase decisions, especially in India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.
