Suzuki Fronx Bags 5-Star Safety Rating in ASEAN NCAP Crash Tests

India-made Suzuki Fronx earns 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating

The Suzuki Fronx has secured a 5-star safety rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP), reinforcing its position as one of the safest models in its segment. Tested under the ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 protocol, the Fronx scored a total of 77.70 points, excelling in adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, and safety assist technologies.

In the adult occupant protection category, the Fronx achieved 29.37 out of 32 points. The vehicle displayed a stable frontal occupant compartment during the offset frontal test, providing adequate protection for both front-seat occupants’ chests and marginal protection for the driver’s lower right leg. Side-impact protection was rated adequate as well. For child occupant protection, it obtained 38.94 out of 51 points, tested with toddlers and young children in rearward and forward-facing seats respectively.

The Fronx also scored 16.5 out of 21 points in the safety assist category. Standard safety features across all variants include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), front and rear seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and pedestrian protection features. Additionally, depending on the market, more advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Auto High Beam (AHB) are either standard or available as options.

The tested model was a 1.5-litre petrol variant with a 6-speed automatic transmission, destined for countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Enhanced safety ratings and inclusion of ADAS features highlight the Fronx’s suitability for international markets, although these advanced systems are not currently part of the India-spec version.

The 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating not only reflects Suzuki’s commitment to safety but also raises expectations for broader adoption of such standards in India and other markets. The Fronx combines SUV styling with efficient performance, offering customers a secure and modern vehicle option in its category.
