Skoda Kodiaq Recall: Faulty Front Seat Frame May Compromise Side Airbags in 221 Units

A seat frame defect in select Kodiaq units could reduce side airbag effectiveness during crashes.

Skoda Auto India has issued a recall for its flagship SUV, the Skoda Kodiaq, citing a defect in the front seat structure that could impact passenger safety. The recall affects a total of 221 units manufactured between March 10 and December 8, 2025, according to official disclosures.

The issue has been linked to the inner frame edge of the front seats, which may compromise the effectiveness of side airbags during deployment. In the event of a collision, this defect could reduce the protection offered by the airbags, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. The concern has been highlighted through data available on the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers website.

Vehicle recalls are typically issued as a precautionary measure to address safety-related defects, and Skoda has urged affected customers to take necessary action. Owners of the impacted units are expected to be contacted by authorised dealerships for inspection and rectification of the issue, ensuring that the vehicles meet safety standards.

Customers who own the Skoda Kodiaq manufactured within the specified period are advised to verify whether their vehicle is part of the recall. This can be done by checking the vehicle identification number (VIN) through official channels or contacting Skoda service centres, as the company works to resolve the issue and minimise any potential risks.
