New Toyota Hilux Spotted In India During TVC Shoot Ahead Of Launch

New Toyota Hilux spotted in India ahead of expected launch.

The next-generation Toyota Hilux has been spotted in India during what is believed to be a television commercial shoot, signalling that the popular lifestyle pickup truck may be nearing its official launch in the domestic market. The sightings have generated renewed interest among automotive enthusiasts, especially as the updated model has already been introduced in several international markets.

The upcoming model is expected to be based on an evolved version of Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform, retaining its rugged underpinnings while introducing significant design and feature upgrades. Although the overall silhouette remains familiar, the new Hilux is expected to adopt a more aggressive and modern styling approach aimed at strengthening its road presence.

On the exterior, the pickup is likely to feature a redesigned front fascia with a larger grille, sleeker LED headlamps, and bold “TOYOTA” branding across the front. The bumper has also been reworked with sharper contours, giving the vehicle a more muscular and contemporary appearance compared to the current version available in India.

Dimensionally, the new Hilux is expected to measure 5,320 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,815 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm and a ground clearance of 225 mm. It is also expected to retain its strong off-road capability, including a water-wading capacity of up to 700 mm, reinforcing its positioning as a durable utility and adventure-focused vehicle.

Inside the cabin, the new Hilux is expected to receive a major technological upgrade, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features may include wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car functions, ventilated seats, premium audio, a panoramic camera system, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), making it more appealing to lifestyle-oriented buyers.

Under the hood, the pickup is likely to continue with the proven 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, producing up to 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque in global specifications, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 48V mild-hybrid system may also be introduced to improve efficiency and refinement, with both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options expected to be offered at launch.
