Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift to Feature Turbo-Petrol and Underbody CNG Configuration
Maruti Brezza facelift gets turbo-petrol engine and underbody CNG setup.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce the facelifted version of the Brezza in the Indian market, with the updated compact SUV expected to receive major feature and powertrain enhancements. Although the automaker has not officially announced the launch, the facelift has been spotted testing multiple times, indicating that development is in its final stages. While the exterior design is expected to receive only subtle styling revisions, the upcoming model is likely to focus on improving performance, comfort and practicality to strengthen its position in the competitive compact SUV segment.
The biggest update is expected under the hood, with the Brezza facelift set to receive a second petrol engine option alongside the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit. According to reports, Maruti Suzuki will introduce a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that currently powers the Fronx. The engine produces 100 hp and 147 Nm of torque in the Fronx, though its output could be retuned for the Brezza. The existing 1.5-litre engine delivers 103 hp and 136 Nm, and both engines are expected to be offered depending on the variant.
The smaller turbo-petrol engine is also expected to provide tax advantages due to its displacement being below 1,200 cc. Apart from improving fuel efficiency, the turbocharged unit could offer stronger low-end performance and a more engaging driving experience. If Maruti Suzuki increases the engine's power output for the Brezza, the SUV could become a more attractive option for buyers seeking a balance between everyday usability and performance.

Another significant upgrade is expected to be the introduction of an underbody-mounted CNG system. Test vehicles have revealed CNG cylinders positioned beneath the vehicle floor instead of inside the boot, freeing up valuable luggage space for passengers. This design improves practicality, one of the biggest concerns for CNG vehicle buyers. Maruti Suzuki has already implemented a similar underbody CNG layout in the Victoris, and the technology is now expected to be extended to the Brezza facelift.
Inside the cabin, the updated Brezza is likely to receive several premium feature additions. The facelift is expected to offer ventilated front seats, a feature that has become increasingly common among rival compact SUVs. Reports also suggest that higher variants may receive powered adjustment for the front seats, further enhancing passenger comfort. These upgrades are expected to make the Brezza more competitive against newer rivals that already offer similar convenience features.
Maruti Suzuki has not yet confirmed the official launch timeline or pricing for the Brezza facelift. However, with multiple test sightings and reports detailing its mechanical and feature upgrades, the SUV is expected to arrive in the coming months. The combination of a new turbo-petrol engine, improved CNG packaging and additional premium features is likely to help Maruti Suzuki strengthen the Brezza's appeal in India's highly competitive compact SUV market.
