Mahindra Thar Price Revised by up to Rs 43,500 Effective April 6 Ahead of Facelift Launch

Mahindra Thar prices rise by up to Rs 43,500 effective April 6 ahead of the facelift launch.

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a price hike of up to ₹43,500 for its popular SUV Mahindra Thar, effective April 6, ahead of the anticipated facelift launch. The revision impacts most variants of the three-door lifestyle SUV, while the base AXT 2WD 1.5 diesel manual variant continues to be priced at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The move comes as part of the company’s broader pricing adjustments amid rising costs and upcoming product updates.

The steepest increase has been applied to the LXT 4WD 2.2 diesel automatic variant, which now costs ₹43,500 more than before. Close behind is the LXT 4WD 2.0 petrol automatic variant, which has seen a price rise of ₹41,500. Other variants have also been affected, with the LXT 4WD 2.2 diesel manual and LXT 4WD 2.0 petrol manual now priced higher by ₹39,500 and ₹37,500, respectively, reflecting a consistent upward revision across the lineup.

Additionally, the LXT 2WD 1.5 diesel manual and LXT 4WD 2.0 petrol manual variants have witnessed a uniform hike of ₹30,500 each. This marks the second price increase for the Thar in 2026, following a ₹20,000 hike implemented in January. The company had earlier indicated that SUV prices could rise by up to 2.5 per cent, aligning with industry trends driven by input cost pressures and inflation.

Despite the price increase, the Thar continues to remain one of Mahindra’s most iconic and best-selling lifestyle SUVs in India. It is currently offered with multiple engine options, including a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and diesel engines in 1.5-litre and 2.2-litre configurations, along with manual and automatic transmissions. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and 4x4 variants, making it a versatile option for both urban and off-road use.

Looking ahead, the upcoming facelift of the Thar has already been spotted testing multiple times and is expected to introduce subtle design changes inspired by the Thar Roxx, particularly in the front grille and headlamp styling. While the core design and powertrain options are likely to remain unchanged, minor mechanical updates and feature enhancements could be introduced, aiming to keep the model competitive in the evolving SUV segment.
