Honda Amaze Shines in Epic Durga Puja Road Trip from Delhi to Kolkata

Compact sedan dazzles with stellar mileage and effortless handling through festive chaos.

The Honda Amaze facelift, recently tested over a 2,000-kilometer journey from Delhi to Kolkata during the festive fervor of Durga Puja, has reaffirmed its status as a reliable family sedan. Covering five states and a dozen national highways, the compact sedan navigated diverse conditions—from bustling city streets to open highways—while showcasing its upgraded features, fuel efficiency, and adaptability. As Kolkata came alive with pandals, lights, and crowds celebrating Vijaya Dashami, the Amaze proved to be an ideal companion for this culturally rich road trip.

Highway Performance and Fuel Efficiency

The standout feature of the Amaze facelift is its Level-1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), particularly the adaptive cruise control, which excelled during highway driving. Powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a CVT gearbox, the Amaze offered a smooth and refined experience. When driven at a steady 80–90 kmph, the sedan achieved an impressive fuel economy of 18.2 kmpl over 1,500 kilometers. The CVT gearbox minimized the rubber band effect and engine noise, ensuring a comfortable and efficient journey, even when tackling long stretches of India’s highways.

City Driving Amid Durga Puja Festivities

Kolkata during Durga Puja transforms into a vibrant hub of celebration, with crowded streets, illuminated pandals, and food vendors offering delectable cuisines late into the night. Navigating this chaotic environment, the Honda Amaze demonstrated its compact agility, effortlessly weaving through slow-moving traffic and congested crossroads. Its 172 mm ground clearance proved invaluable, allowing confident driving over bumps and potholes despite intermittent rain. For safety, the front collision avoidance brakes were disabled due to the unpredictable movement of pedestrians during the festivities.

Over four days, the Amaze facilitated visits to numerous pandals, delivering comfort and convenience. Its 416-litre boot space easily accommodated festive gifts for relatives, making it a practical choice for family outings. In Kolkata’s peak traffic conditions, the sedan recorded a fuel economy of 11.6 kmpl, a testament to its efficiency even in challenging urban settings.

A Reliable Festive Companion

The Honda Amaze facelift balanced performance, comfort, and practicality throughout the journey, proving its worth as a versatile family sedan. From the seamless highway cruising enabled by ADAS to its nimble handling in Kolkata’s festive chaos, the Amaze delivered a commendable performance. As the return journey to Delhi looms, this road trip underscores the sedan’s ability to combine fuel efficiency, modern technology, and festive-ready functionality, making it a compelling choice for Indian families.
