Ferrari Unveils SC40, a One-Off Supercar Inspired by the Iconic F40

Ferrari has unveiled its breathtaking SC40, a one-off masterpiece from its Special Projects Program, revealed in Maranello to an exclusive audience. Commissioned by a privileged client, this mid-rear-engined supercar draws inspiration from the legendary F40 while building on the 296 GTB’s architecture. Sharing the same rear-wheel-drive chassis and V6 turbo-hybrid powertrain, the SC40 boasts a formidable 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering a staggering 830 horsepower, blending raw power with cutting-edge hybrid technology.
The SC40 pays homage to the iconic F40 through distinctive design cues that evoke its predecessor’s timeless appeal. Smoked Lexan louvres and an open-mesh rear fascia ensure optimal cooling for the turbocharged engine, while the side profile features triangular carbon-fiber accents and large intercooler air intakes—a modern take on the F40’s classic NACA ducts. The SC40 script, engraved in relief on the rear wing, adds a bespoke touch. Under the direction of Flavio Manzoni at the Ferrari Styling Center, the SC40 merges retro charm with contemporary sophistication, highlighted by vertical lines across the front wings, door cuts, and engine cover, alongside a full-width lower air intake and rectangular brake intakes. The exclusive Bespoke Bianco SC40 paint elevates its striking exterior.
Inside, the SC40’s cabin reflects Ferrari’s commitment to luxury and performance. Carbon-Kevlar, a material pioneered by the F40, is prominently featured in the footwells, behind the seats, and on the steering wheel and dashboard, reinforcing the car’s racing pedigree. Charcoal Alcantara and vibrant red Jacquard fabric create a sporty yet premium ambiance, blending comfort with a race-inspired edge. This meticulous attention to detail ensures the SC40 feels as exhilarating to sit in as it is to drive.
