Indian actor and motorsport enthusiast Ajith Kumar recently tested the Mahindra Formula-E Gen 2 car in Spain, showcasing his racing prowess and earning accolades from Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra. The test, conducted ahead of the GT4 European Series in Barcelona, highlighted Ajith’s passion for automobiles, captivating Indian auto fans. Mahindra took to X to commend Ajith’s “poise and finesse,” sharing photos of the actor navigating the electric race car and captioning the post, “Spain, Speed, and Style. A powerful and classic combination. Great to see you on the track, Thiru Ajith Kumar.”

Ajith, a seasoned racer, paused his film commitments to focus on motorsport, recently launching his own racing team. His dedication has already yielded results, with a third-place finish in the AM class of the Michelin Creventic Porsche GT3 Cup and a fourth-place result in the demanding Barcelona 24H endurance race. During his time in Spain, Ajith met with the Mahindra Formula-E team, gaining insights from driver Nyck de Vries about the car’s capabilities. The Gen 2 car, known for its advanced electric powertrain, is a cornerstone of Mahindra’s efforts in the FIA Formula E Championship, emphasizing sustainable motorsport innovation.

Anand Mahindra’s public endorsement underscores the growing synergy between Indian motorsport and entertainment, with Ajith bridging both worlds. His test drive not only spotlighted his skill but also Mahindra’s advancements in electric racing technology. Ajith’s engagement with the Formula-E team reflects his commitment to deepening his motorsport expertise, a pursuit that has seen him compete in high-profile races across Europe and Asia.

Looking ahead, Ajith is preparing for the 2025 Asian Le Mans Series, featuring three rounds at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit, Dubai Autodrome, and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit. Competing in the LMP3 class alongside Indian racing veteran Narain Karthikeyan, Ajith will drive a Ligier JS P325 powered by a Toyota 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. The series, known for its grueling four-hour endurance races, will feature LMP2, LMP3, and GT3 vehicles, setting the stage for Ajith to further cement his reputation as a formidable racer.
