Yamaha Unveils Aerox Electric Scooter In India, Promises 117km Range At ₹2.82 Lakh
Yamaha unveils Aerox Electric scooter with 117km range
Yamaha has launched the Aerox-E electric scooter in India at an introductory price of ₹2.82 lakh, making it the company's most expensive two-wheeler currently on sale in the country. The new model marks Yamaha's second electric offering in India and brings the sporty styling of the popular Aerox range into the electric vehicle segment, with a focus on performance, urban commuting and modern technology. The Aerox-E retains the aggressive design language of its petrol-powered sibling, featuring sharp bodywork, a muscular front apron and a sporty riding stance.
Yamaha has equipped the scooter with two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs, giving it a combined battery capacity of 3 kWh. The detachable battery design allows for easier charging and greater convenience, particularly for riders who may not have access to dedicated charging infrastructure. Powering the electric scooter is a motor producing 9.5 kW (12.9 hp) of peak power and 48 Nm of torque. Yamaha says the high-energy-density battery cells have been developed to complement the scooter's performance-oriented character while delivering consistent power for everyday riding.
The electric powertrain is aimed at offering brisk acceleration and responsive performance suited to city traffic conditions. According to the manufacturer, the Aerox-E delivers a claimed IDC-certified range of 117 km on a full charge, making it suitable for daily urban commutes. The scooter has a kerb weight of 139 kg, around 13 kg heavier than the petrol-powered Aerox 155. Despite the additional weight from the battery packs, Yamaha has sought to maintain the model's agile handling and sporty dynamics.

To cater to different riding conditions, the Aerox-E comes with four riding modes. Riders can switch between Eco, Standard and Power modes depending on their preferred balance between performance and battery efficiency. In addition, Yamaha has introduced a Boost mode, which temporarily delivers extra power for quicker acceleration during overtaking or when navigating busy city roads. The launch reflects Yamaha's expanding presence in India's rapidly growing electric two-wheeler market, where competition has intensified with established manufacturers and EV-focused startups introducing new products across various price segments.
By positioning the Aerox-E as a premium electric scooter, Yamaha is targeting buyers seeking higher performance and advanced features rather than purely budget-oriented mobility. With its sporty styling, removable battery technology, multiple riding modes and a claimed range of 117 km, the Aerox-E is expected to appeal to urban commuters looking for a premium electric alternative. The launch also signals Yamaha's continued investment in electric mobility as consumer demand for EVs grows and manufacturers accelerate the transition towards cleaner transportation solutions in India.
