Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Launched in India — 7-Seater With 5-Star Safety

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line debuts in India as a premium 7-seater SUV with advanced features.

Volkswagen has unveiled the India-spec Tayron R-Line, a new seven-seater SUV positioned at the top of the brand’s lineup in the country. The Tayron R-Line sits above the Tiguan R-Line and marks Volkswagen’s return to the three-row SUV segment in India, a space left vacant after the discontinuation of the Tiguan Allspace. The model is also the first of five new products planned by Volkswagen for the Indian market across multiple segments.

In terms of design, the Tayron R-Line features a sporty and aggressive exterior aligned with Volkswagen’s R-Line styling philosophy. The SUV gets a bold front bumper, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a strong road presence. At the rear, it carries the brand’s signature design language with connected LED taillamps and an illuminated Volkswagen logo, giving it a modern and premium appearance.

Inside the cabin, the Tayron R-Line offers a tech-focused and premium interior. Key highlights include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard features silver accents, an illuminated R-Line logo, and customisable ambient lighting with up to 30 colour options, reinforcing the SUV’s sporty identity.

The feature list is extensive, with the Tayron R-Line equipped with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, massage, and ventilation functions, and an augmented reality head-up display (HUD). Additional comforts include a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, and three-zone automatic climate control.

On the safety front, the SUV comes with nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start and hill-descent assist, and a 360-degree camera. It also offers Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Notably, the Tayron R-Line achieved a five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests in 2025, underlining its strong safety credentials.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the Tayron R-Line is the first of five upcoming models for India, which will include sedans, SUVs, and hatchbacks. Further details regarding powertrain options, pricing, and launch timelines for the Tayron R-Line are expected to be announced closer to its market introduction.
