KTM RC 160 Price Hiked by Rs 15,000: Check New Cost vs Yamaha R15

KTM India has increased the price of the RC 160 by approximately Rs 15,000, taking the entry-level fully faired motorcycle’s ex-showroom price to Rs 2 lakh. The revision makes the sportbike more expensive than before and brings its pricing closer to that of higher-specification competitors in India’s performance-oriented 150cc and 160cc motorcycle segment.

The RC 160 continues to compete primarily with the Yamaha R15 V4, whose top-end variant is priced at approximately Rs 1.98 lakh ex-showroom, around Rs 2,000 less than the KTM. The Yamaha offers equipment such as a TFT instrument display, traction control and a quickshifter, which may influence buyers comparing features and overall value between the two motorcycles.

KTM’s revised pricing also changes the RC 160’s position within the company’s fully faired motorcycle range. The more powerful RC 200 costs Rs 2.32 lakh ex-showroom, creating a price difference of about Rs 32,000. Buyers seeking stronger performance may therefore consider paying the additional amount for the larger motorcycle.

Powering the RC 160 is a 164.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.73bhp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while KTM claims that the motorcycle can achieve a top speed of 118kmph.

The motorcycle is built around a trellis frame and uses 37mm inverted front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel anti-lock braking for improved control during sudden or hard braking.

Other equipment includes a 13.75-litre metal fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, full-LED lighting and an LCD instrument cluster. Its chassis, aerodynamic bodywork and committed riding position are intended to deliver a sportier experience, although the aggressive ergonomics may be less comfortable for some riders during regular commuting or longer journeys.
