Iconic Kinetic DX Returns as Electric Scooter With Retro Appeal
The Kinetic DX returns as an electric retro-inspired scooter.
The iconic Kinetic DX nameplate has made a comeback in 2026, this time as an electric scooter, blending retro-inspired design with modern EV technology. Once a popular two-stroke scooter from the 1990s, the model has been reintroduced for a new generation of riders, aiming to combine nostalgia with practical urban mobility in India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler segment.
The new Kinetic DX retains the familiar silhouette of the original model but features significant updates in design and engineering. It comes equipped with full-LED lighting, including headlamps and taillamps, along with retro-styled DRLs that reference its classic identity. The scooter also uses a largely metal body construction, giving it a solid and durable feel, although minor concerns have been noted regarding paint finish and panel alignment.
In terms of features, the Kinetic DX offers a fully digital instrument cluster with basic connectivity functions, including music playback. It also includes practical additions such as a 38-litre under-seat storage compartment capable of holding two helmets and a USB charging port. However, the handlebar control layout features multiple buttons that may take time for new users to get accustomed to.

The electric scooter is powered by a 60V architecture and a 2.6 kWh LFP battery, supported by an onboard charger. Charging from zero to full takes approximately four hours. It offers a claimed range of up to 105 km in Eco mode and around 70 km in Turbo mode, while top speeds vary between 80 km/h and 90 km/h depending on the variant.
Performance-wise, the Kinetic DX is tuned for smooth and comfortable city commuting rather than aggressive acceleration. While Eco mode limits speed for efficiency, Turbo mode provides stronger pickup suitable for overtaking. However, regenerative braking has been described as minimal, placing greater reliance on mechanical brakes. Ride comfort remains a strong point, supported by 12-inch wheels and a ground clearance of 165 mm.
Priced from approximately Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kinetic DX positions itself as a practical, family-orientated electric scooter. The review suggests that while it may not be the most performance-focused EV in its segment, it stands out for its comfortable ride, nostalgic appeal, and everyday usability, making it a potential choice for first-time electric scooter buyers.
