Bajaj Removes Avenger 160 Street From Lineup, Lists Upcoming 220 Street Model
Bajaj discontinues Avenger 160 Street and hints at upcoming launch of Avenger 220 Street.
Bajaj Auto has officially discontinued the Bajaj Avenger 160 Street in India, marking the end of its entry-level cruiser offering in the popular Avenger lineup. The model has been removed from the company’s official website, confirming its exit from the market. At the same time, the company has hinted at a revival of the segment with the upcoming Bajaj Avenger 220 Street, which is expected to be launched soon.
The Avenger 160 Street had been positioned as an affordable gateway into cruiser-style motorcycling in India. It was powered by a 160.4cc single-cylinder engine producing 14.8 bhp and 13.7 Nm of torque. While it attracted first-time cruiser buyers due to its accessible pricing and relaxed riding stance, Bajaj has now phased it out as part of a broader product strategy shift toward higher-capacity models.
In its place, Bajaj is preparing to reintroduce the Avenger 220 Street, which was previously discontinued in 2020. The return of the model signals a renewed focus on the mid-capacity cruiser segment. The bike will share its platform with the existing Avenger 220 Cruise, which has already been on sale in India and serves as the more touring-focused variant in the lineup.

The upcoming Avenger 220 Street will be powered by a 220cc oil-cooled engine that produces around 19 hp and 17.5 Nm of torque. Designed as a more urban-friendly cruiser, it will feature a shorter handlebar for easier city maneuvering, a stripped-down design without a windshield, and a matte-black finish instead of heavy chrome detailing. The model is also expected to ride on alloy wheels, differentiating it from the Cruise variant.
Bajaj has listed the motorcycle on its official platform with a “Coming Soon” tag, indicating that a formal launch and pricing announcement are imminent. The bike will be offered in colour options such as Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red, along with features like a semi-digital instrument cluster, halogen lighting setup, and a pillion backrest for added comfort.
On the hardware front, the Avenger 220 Street will come equipped with telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers with adjustable settings, and a braking system featuring a front disc and rear drum setup with single-channel ABS. With this update, Bajaj aims to strengthen its presence in the mid-range cruiser segment while offering a more powerful and refined alternative to the discontinued 160cc model.
