Ather Rolls Out Voice Command Feature For Select Electric Scooters In India
Ather launches Voice on Ather feature for select electric scooters via OTA update.
Bengaluru-based electric mobility company Ather Energy has introduced a new voice-controlled interface for select scooter models in India, marking a step forward in its connected vehicle technology ecosystem. The feature, called “Voice on Ather,” is being rolled out for the Ather 450X, Ather 450 Apex, and Ather Rizta Z through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.
The company confirmed that the feature is available only on scooters equipped with Gen 3 hardware or newer. However, models such as the Ather 450S and Ather Rizta S are not currently supported. The rollout follows its earlier showcase during Ather Community Day 2025, where it was introduced as part of the broader AtherStack 7 software platform.
With the new system, riders can use natural voice commands to control multiple scooter functions, reducing dependence on touchscreen inputs while riding. The interface is designed to improve convenience and enhance safety by allowing hands-free operation of key features during travel.

Powered by a large language model (LLM), the Voice on Ather system is trained to understand Indian accents and conversational speech patterns. Riders can issue commands such as locating nearby charging stations, checking estimated time of arrival, adjusting display brightness, switching ride modes, controlling media playback, and even managing calls and notifications.
The company also highlighted integration with its Halo smart helmet, while noting compatibility with third-party Bluetooth headsets. This ensures riders can access voice controls without needing additional proprietary hardware, broadening usability across different user groups.
Looking ahead, Ather Energy plans to expand the system’s capabilities through future updates. The company aims to introduce two-way communication features, along with predictive alerts for road conditions, tyre pressure monitoring, and parking safety notifications, further enhancing the connected experience for the Ather 450X, Ather 450 Apex, and Ather Rizta Z lineup.
