Ather Konarc Launched In India With New EL Platform And Up To 200 Km Range

Ather Energy has launched the Konarc electric scooter with a starting price of Rs 1 lakh, introducing the new model as part of a wider product and technology push at its fourth annual Community Day. The company has positioned the Konarc as a mainstream electric scooter focused on everyday usability, comfort, stability and practicality rather than the performance-oriented approach of its 450 series. The launch was accompanied by announcements covering batteries, charging infrastructure and EV ownership tools.

The Konarc will be available in six variants across the S and Z lineups, with claimed IDC-certified range figures extending from 100 km to 200 km. It is the first Ather model based on the company's new EL platform and is designed around the requirements of daily commuters. The scooter also gets features including an Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS), MagicKey functionality, AutoPop and AirWalk mode. Ather has additionally announced faster charging through onboard and combined charging solutions, while the service interval has been set at 10,000 km.

Alongside the Konarc, Ather introduced its fifth-generation Bedrock battery platform, which includes a system called BreachSense. The technology is designed to detect microscopic battery damage following a high-impact accident and identify potential moisture intrusion risks. Ather has also worked on improved cell balancing, with the company expecting the new batteries to retain 70 per cent state of health for around 1 lakh to 1.2 lakh kilometres. The battery will be covered by a 10-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.

The company also unveiled AtherNode, a load management system aimed at addressing charging challenges in apartment complexes and commercial buildings. The system can manage up to 1,000 chargers through a central gateway and dynamically distribute available power according to demand. Charging can be temporarily paused during periods of peak electricity consumption and resumed when capacity becomes available, potentially helping buildings manage electricity loads without expensive infrastructure upgrades.

Ather further announced Ather True Health, a vehicle health report intended to provide greater transparency in the used electric scooter market. The system analyses information including riding behaviour, battery health, service history, component condition and usage patterns. For eligible scooters, it can also generate an estimated resale value and allow owners to share the complete health report with prospective buyers. The feature will be available for Ather scooters that have completed three years on the road and are equipped with AtherStack Pro.

The announcements at Community Day 2026 indicate that Ather is expanding its focus beyond the sale of electric scooters to the wider ownership experience. The Konarc addresses range, comfort and everyday practicality, while the new battery platform focuses on durability and safety monitoring. AtherNode targets charging requirements in multi-unit buildings, and True Health is aimed at improving transparency around vehicle condition and resale. Together, the initiatives reflect the company's broader approach to addressing practical concerns associated with electric vehicle ownership in India.
