Maruti Suzuki Issues Recall of 39,000 Grand Vitara SUVs Over Fuel Gauge Glitch

Maruti Suzuki recalls over 39,000 Grand Vitara SUVs for faulty fuel gauge.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a recall of 39,506 units of its popular Grand Vitara SUV models sold in India, citing a potential defect in the fuel gauge system. The affected vehicles were manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. The issue pertains to the fuel level indicator and warning light within the speedometer assembly, which in some cases may not accurately display the actual fuel level, potentially misleading drivers.

Owners of the impacted models will be contacted directly by Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty components free of charge. The company has urged customers to promptly respond to communication from service centers to ensure safe vehicle operation going forward. This recall is a proactive safety measure aimed at preventing any inconvenience or accident related to inaccurate fuel readings.

The Grand Vitara continues to maintain strong popularity in the Indian market, available in petrol, CNG, and plug-in hybrid variants. Offered at prices ranging from Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV’s muscular design, advanced safety features, and all-wheel-drive option have made it a preferred choice among family and adventure enthusiasts alike.
