Mahindra Scorpio-N Pickup Spied in Production-Ready Guise Ahead of August 15 Debut

Mahindra's Scorpio-N pickup truck spotted testing ahead of August 15 unveiling.

Mahindra’s upcoming Scorpio-N-based pickup truck has been spotted in near-production form ahead of its expected unveiling on August 15. The dual-cab pickup is being developed as a lifestyle-oriented utility vehicle based on the Scorpio-N platform. The latest test mule features several production-spec elements, offering a clearer look at the design before its anticipated debut at Mahindra’s Independence Day event.

The most noticeable feature of the latest test vehicle is its substantial road presence, with styling that differentiates it from the Scorpio-N SUV. The pickup gets a production-spec front grille with a design distinct from the SUV, along with slim LED headlamps. Fog lamps have been positioned lower on the front bumper, giving the vehicle a more rugged appearance suited to its pickup-truck character.

The spotted model follows a dual-cab configuration and features a large cargo bed at the rear. It is also equipped with side steps, which should make accessing the cabin easier, while dual tow hooks on the front reinforce its utility-focused design. The production-spec details seen on the test mule suggest that Mahindra is progressing towards the final version of the vehicle ahead of its expected public debut.

Under the bonnet, the Scorpio-N-based pickup is expected to use Mahindra’s familiar 2.2-litre diesel engine. In the Scorpio-N, this engine produces up to 172 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, depending on the transmission configuration. The pickup is expected to retain this powertrain, although final specifications and performance figures for the production model are yet to be officially confirmed by Mahindra.

The upcoming pickup is also expected to be offered with both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain options. The availability of four-wheel drive could enhance its capability on rough terrain and make it a more versatile option for buyers seeking a lifestyle pickup. Further details regarding its transmission choices, equipment, dimensions and payload capacity are expected to be revealed closer to or during the August 15 unveiling.

Mahindra has not yet announced the complete specifications, pricing or launch timeline of the Scorpio-N-based pickup. However, the latest production-spec test mule indicates that the model is nearing its final form. If unveiled as expected on August 15, the new pickup will expand Mahindra’s lifestyle vehicle portfolio and bring a rugged dual-cab utility model based on the Scorpio-N to the Indian market.
