BMW India Smashes Sales Records in 2025 with EV Boom and Luxury Surge

BMW India posts all-time high sales driven by electrification and luxury demand.

BMW Group India has cemented its dominance in the luxury automotive market, recording its highest-ever car sales in the first nine months of 2025 with 11,978 units sold, including 11,510 BMWs and 468 MINIs. The group also delivered 3,976 motorcycles through BMW Motorrad, totaling over 15,900 premium vehicles. The third quarter (July-September) was a standout, with 4,204 cars sold—a remarkable 21 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase—driven by favorable GST pricing adjustments and heightened festive demand. September alone marked the company’s best-ever monthly performance, reflecting BMW’s ability to capitalize on India’s growing appetite for luxury and performance vehicles.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have been a cornerstone of BMW’s success, with the group maintaining its status as India’s leading luxury EV brand. From January to September, 2,509 electric BMWs and MINIs were delivered, showcasing a staggering 246 percent YoY growth and comprising 21 percent of total sales. The BMW iX1 led as the top-selling electric model, appealing to eco-conscious buyers seeking compact luxury, while the flagship i7 secured second place, offering premium electrification for high-end consumers. By Q3, BMW surpassed 5,000 cumulative EV deliveries in India, bolstered by expanding charging infrastructure and government incentives, positioning the brand at the forefront of the country’s sustainable mobility revolution.

Long-wheelbase (LWB) models, tailored to India’s preference for spacious, chauffeur-driven luxury, saw extraordinary demand, with 5,720 units sold—a 169 percent YoY surge—accounting for 50 percent of total car sales. The 7 Series LWB, 5 Series LWB, 3 Series LWB, and iX1 were key contributors, with the 3 Series LWB emerging as the bestselling BMW sedan, capturing a 16 percent sales share. MINI also performed strongly, delivering 468 units, led by the MINI Cooper S, which recorded over 90 percent YoY growth, resonating with younger buyers drawn to its iconic design and agile performance. These figures underscore BMW’s strategic alignment with India’s diverse luxury market.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, stated, “BMW Group India has continuously succeeded in attaining high growth throughout 2025. The company’s success is further amplified by its customer-centric approach, including digital showrooms, tailored financing options, and enhanced aftersales services. As India’s luxury vehicle market expands with rising affluence and urbanization, BMW’s focus on electrification, premium SUVs, and personalized experiences positions it to sustain this momentum.
