Ajith Kumar Urges Fans to Keep Quiet During Murugan Temple Visit in Malaysia

Ajith Kumar visits Murugan Temple in Malaysia, requesting fans to remain quiet and respectful.

Tamil Superstar Ajith Kumar, currently in Malaysia for the Michelin 12H Malaysia Endurance Race at Sepang International Circuit, made time for a spiritual detour to the iconic Batu Caves Murugan Temple on Tuesday. Dressed simply in a white T-shirt, jeans, and sunglasses perched on his head, the actor quietly climbed the 272 colourful steps to the hilltop shrine, only to be instantly recognised by devotees and tourists. A video that has since gone viral shows the 54-year-old surrounded by excited fans, many shouting “Thalaivaa!” in typical Tamil Nadu style, before he gently raised his hand and requested silence inside the sacred premises.

With folded hands and a calm smile, Ajith politely urged the crowd, “No shouting, please. It’s a temple,” instantly bringing the decibel level down and earning applause for his humility. He then proceeded to offer prayers at the world’s tallest Lord Murugan statue, maintaining the serene atmosphere that devotees cherish at the 130-year-old Hindu pilgrimage site. The moment resonated deeply with fans worldwide, with the clip garnering millions of views within hours and trending across social media as #RespectThalaivaa.

Known for shunning the limelight off-screen and repeatedly asking fans not to call him “Thalaivaa” (leader) or celebrate his birthday extravagantly, Ajith’s gesture reinforced his reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most grounded superstars. Despite commanding a massive following across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and the global Tamil diaspora, the actor—who was last seen in the blockbuster Good Bad Ugly—continues to prioritise privacy and spirituality over stardom.

Currently in Malaysia as part of his passion for motorsports, Ajith is competing in the endurance race under the AJ Racing banner, driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R alongside international teammates. Even amid the adrenaline of the racetrack, his quiet temple visit served as a reminder that for the man affectionately called “AK” by his inner circle, devotion and decorum outweigh the frenzy of fame.
